I wish we still had a roller rink here. I will have to turn to iceskating in the next town over instead. I have much the same experience as you do, even the burning ankles. I don’t get to do it often though. Usually I go to the gym and channel all the bad feelings into pushing and pulling lumps of iron around in precise patterns for exact numbers of times. It’s not exhilarating like gliding over the rink, but it has its own charms and leaves plenty of room for me to embrace my mediocrity. I just like it!

I love that! Weightlifting does sound like a very satisfying channel for releasing the bad feelings. And ice skating works too, in a pinch! :)

This is such a great lesson to learn. So much more of the world is available when one doesn't have to be "Da Best" experiencing it. My personal getaway is chess, at which I am hopeless. But I get so much from it, so I don't worry about getting beaten again and again. there's always another game to play.

So true! It's so freeing to have that mindset. Chess is a good one—such a great mental getaway but certainly not easy for most of us to master. Embrace that imperfection and keep on playing! ❤️
